Appointments

Please note that when booking appointments you will be asked to give a brief description of the reason you wish to have an appointment.  You are asked for this information so that you can be directed towards the most appropriate service which could include advance or urgent appointments with a GP, Advanced Practitioner, Practice Nurse or Health Care assistant.  A telephone call from the GP may be appropriate or a visit to see your local pharmacist. 

Services are also available via our website to consult with a GP via the e-consult service and once you have signed up at the surgery you can also access your own medical record for the purpose of reordering regular prescriptions and to book appointments - subject to availability. 

The NHS 111 emergency telephone consultation service is also available.

Doctors 9.00 am to 11.00am 15.10 pm to 17.40 pm
 
Advanced Practitioners 9.00 am to 11.45am 3.00 pm to 4.40 pm
Nursing Team 8.30 am to 12.30 pm 2.00 pm to 5.30 pm


 Ventnor Medical Centre has access to Extended Access routine GP appointments available on some Saturdays, approximately once each month.  The appointments are likely to be at other local surgeries including at Niton and Sandown practices and will be with a duty GP.  If this would assist you to see a GP enquire with the admin team who should be able to advise when the next available session is being held and where. 

 

Our appointments system has been divided into different classifications so that patients can be seen as quickly as possible.

VMC


Routine appointments that can be booked four weeks in advance.
VMC 48 hour appointments are opened 48 hours in advance.
VMC Same day appointments opened at 8.30 am on the day.

Emergency appointments are made available am and pm (these will be with the first available GP).

 Ventnor Medical Centre now offer a great new service, which will further improve access for many patients. You can now register at our GP practice to book a GP appointment and or order repeat prescription items. Access to the online service (which is systmonline) is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week via the internet. http://systmonline.tpp-uk.com/

How To Make An Appointment 

Routine Appointments These can be booked over the telephone or on-line between 8.30 am and 6.00 pm.
Routine appointments are for 10 minutes.
Urgent Appointments Please book over the telephone between 8.30 am and 9.30 am if possible
Home Visits Telephone 01983 857288. Please phone before 11.00 am. All home visits are at the discretion of the doctor. 

Please let us know if you are unable to keep your appointment or if the appointments is not convenient, because wasted appointments mean longer waiting times for other patients.

Please try to come to the surgery whenever possible but if you feel you need a home visit please telephone after 9.00am on the day the visit is required. The receptionist will require details of the patient and the problem so a doctor can assess the urgency of the call. Your call will then be put through to a doctor (who may not be your registered doctor).

Telephone Advice Doctors may be able to give advice over the telephone. The practice has arranged a phone-in time during the morning between 10.45am and 11.30am after morning surgery. Prior to your call being put through to the doctor the receptionist will require details of the problem so the doctor can assess the urgency of the call.
Out of Hours Service If you need to see a doctor outside the usual hours of surgery then you will need to telephone 111 6.30 pm to 8.00 am
